This extended five-day route links the western and eastern arms of the Simien Mountains, crossing higher passes and spending more time in the remote high-altitude wilderness.

Start with acclimatisation on the meadow edge of the western park.
Today's traverse follows the very lip of the escarpment, rewarding you with endlessly unfolding views, before climbing through heather moorland to the Gich high camp below Imet Gogo.
Start with sunrise at Imet Gogo, then continue on a long, exposed high traverse that is home to some of the park's largest gelada herds, descending to the Chennek campsite by late afternoon.
Push toward the Ras Bwahit massif for the highest, most expansive views of the trip, passing through remote giant heather moorland before returning to camp for the night.
Descend through the eastern valleys and back toward the trailhead, crossing scenic riverine scrub, before transferring to Debark where the trek ends.
